Reflection 1

1. Discussion on what you need to keep in mind as you start the journey through Project-Based Learning (PBL).

The things that we are to keep in mind as we being our journey through Project-Based Learning is that; today's students are up to the challenge. projects are worth the effort, students live and learn in the real world and new contexts encourage the project approach.

2. Discussion on the overall benefits of the PBL approach.

In the book it talks about how in Project-Based Learning students investigate open-ended questions apply their knowledge to produce authentic products. Projects typically allow for student choice, setting the stage for active learning and teamwork. Not only do the students benefit from this type of learning, but the teachers do as well.

3. Discussion on the benefits to students who participate in PBL.

Project-Based Learning can benefit students by having them use the technology that has taken over our world day by day. Students engage in real-world activities and practice the strategies of authentic disciplines. Students work collaboratively to solve problems that matter to them. When students learn by engaging real-world projects, nearly every aspect of their experience changes.

4. Discussion on what issues need to be considered in PBL approach.

An issue that may appear with this PBL approach may happen the first time around that it is tested with the students. The students are going from the traditional classroom teaching and jumping on board with PBL. There is a very different learning and thinking process and some things may go wrong that would call for research and some extra looking into things. Another issue to consider is the fact that every child learns differently. Will every students benefit from the PBL approach?

5. Discussion on New Technology High as an example of New Technology Model.

New Technology High is a ground designed from the ground up to meet the needs of 21st century learners. Here, PBL is the centerpiece of instructional design. This school is definitely a step into the future, but is it the right step for the students? Technology is a big part of our world now, and it will only improve from here.

  1. I agree with your comment that when students learn by engaging real world projects that their experiences changes. I can contest to this myself when given a test I just concentrate on memorization and not truly what I'm studying. When I do a project of some sort I focus on what I'm actually learning and I'm apply to apply that to my project. You also remember projects that you do it sticks with you but long boring drilled vocabulary and so on dosent.

I also think that new technology high future will be bright. Considering how we use technology today and the increasing demand of doing everything online it rings brilliance. Students of the 21st century won't have to adapt because it's already a way of life for them which will make learning more fun and less boring. Hopefully the curve and main focus stays on what's being taught which could possibly be the only down fall. The right step? Yes I'd say do.
