Reading Reflection 2

1.              Discussion on the focus of Learning Communities.
The focus of learning community is bringing together a group of thinkers so that there learning can be done more efficiently. It’s a revolution to improve education. Students have to think more deeply to make connections and discuss ideas that are not used much in today’s society.

2.              Discussion on the benefits of Learning Communities.
The benefits of learning communities are endless. Learning communities will produce better thinkers. It is a system that prepares you for the real world. You need to know how to collaborate with other co-workers, problem solve, and find creative solutions. Learning communities force you to be innovative.

3.              Discussion on how Learning Communities affect teachers.
Teachers will not be so isolated. Not only will the students work as a team but the teacher will as well. The teachers will work together to prepare the most effective ways to teach subjects. Everyone is working as a team because that is how we are going to get the best results. Multiple minds working together are better than one.

4.              Discussion on how Learning Communities affect students.
Learning communities will create more creative students. Students will learn to think out of the box. They are no longer to be guided. It is more of an inquiry-based approach. Students are not given outlines of exactly what they need to do. They are given a task and need to find a solution without being told how to do so. Students will learn how to work effectively with other students.

5.              Discussion on the components for shared vision in Learning Communities.
The vision of learning communities is to create critical thinkers, make connections, open mind thinking, collaborate with others, and create lifelong learners. Learning communities is the new way of learning that needs to be adapted. Students are put in situations were they have more self responsibility and have to learn quickly so that they don’t let other group members down.

6.              Discussion on how concepts in this chapter relate to your topic/project.
This concept relates to our class because we currently are working in groups. We write on a blog and make connections by writing comments. We work together to become deep thinkers. Due to the snow days we have missed out on the discussion aspect but we have a lot more of the semester to come.

  1. I definitely think that Project-Based learning should be placed into all classrooms. It benefits teachers and students. This style of teaching prepares students for reality once they get our of school as well.

  2. I feel like bringing together a community of thinkers does more than just making things more efficient! It can open up whole new worlds and bring in different perspectives for everyone
